Wherever I am going, I always spend more time putting on makeup then picking an outfit. I love the feeling of putting on makeup. Sometimes it's the only creative thing I do all day (thank you entry level positions).
Lancome Teint Miracle, Lancome Effercernes Waterproof concealer, Cle de Peau foundation powder, Almay Eyeliner, Bobbi Brown Uber Nude Palette, and Stila Waterproof Eyebrow Pen.
These photos are a perfect example of how I do my makeup everyday. It is not the cleanest look, but I like unruly eyebrows and clumpy mascara (I literally use whatever I can find).
All the products I mentioned probably cost more than what most people would like to spend but **CONTRO OPINON** I don't think there is a dupe for nice powder or concealer. I have terrible dark circles and fine lines, so I need something that won't budge and will sit smoothly on my skin. Half of the battle is application, but I do notice drugstore brands tend to fade during the day. HOWEVER, I will stand by Almay liquid eyeliner forever. Much better than the M.A.C Penultimate Eyeliner which dries out too fast, flakes and smears way more in my experience.
What are some dupes you like to use?
As for the ballet, I used the exact same products to do a smokey 1920's eye, focusing the shadow in the corner of my eye, OPPOSITE of my everyday makeup. Normally, I apply the darker color at the outside corners of my eye to lift my eyes.
I KNOW I KNOW cat eye is not 1920's but my eyes looked so lonely without it. |
The ball was beautiful, but DEAR LORD THE PRIVILEGE. So many rich white people in one room. Unfortunately (Fortunately?), these are the people who are influential in DC and it doesn't hurt to get to know them. One of the best reasons to volunteer for organizations like the ballet, is that you get a free meal, free drinks and free networking.
The performers were all ~17 and under and their performances were AMAZING! I was literally in awe looking at these beautiful babies dance. So much talent!
Around 11:30 I dipped out to go to Damaged City. I went from a room full of rich white people to a room full of broke white people. In my hometown/Austin I never really felt alienated in "the scene" since all my friends were brown and most of the bands too. Going to a "punk and hardcore fest" by myself was really intimidating at first, but I made a friend, drank some beers and introduced myself to all the beautiful WOC.
I was really excited to be able to see 86 Mentality and Negative Approach. Too bad everyone was 2 Kool to enjoy themselves. It was probably one of the tamest shows I have ever been to, actually.
