Even More Rainy Day Style (Alternate Title: I Can't Stand the Rain)

June 14, 2013

You guys already know this, but I can't seem to bring myself to care when rain is involved.  I know there's a lot of bloggers that talk about all these cute outfits that you can wear with wellies, but -- real talk -- once I see a rainboot, I run out of craps to give.

Unfortunately, if I had known that today's weather would be near-perfect, I would have worn my new heels to work with these great floral pants I've been waiting to debut.  Oh well.  Hindsight, you know.

If you couldn't tell, I'm really into polka dots.  This is actually my second pair of dotted pants (I'm thinking about getting a third because I'm the worst), but this is a looser pajama-like silhouette, whereas my first pair is a thicker fabric and cropped and perhaps more tailored?

I'm getting a little bored of my recent tendencies to gravitate towards black & white graphic prints, so I think I'm going to do a big ol' wardrobe remix soon.  Back when I had my (now-defunct) fashion blog, I joined a group of other style bloggers and did a 30 For 30 Challenge, which meant that I would only wear 30 pieces (including pairs of shoes and outerwear) for 30 days to force myself to come up with as many different outfits as possible.  Perhaps I can get some of the other Within Color contributors to join me (hint hint).

I also happened to take some pictures of my [underwhelming] outfit from this Thursday.  It actually rained pretty hard, but I chose to spice up my footwear because my feet always get wet in rainboots anyway, so wuteva.  You can find the outfit under the cut.

Leather Jacket: Muubaa / Shirt: Target / Scarf: H&M / Jeans & Sneakers: Forever 21

I promise to take a closer picture of my sequined sneakers next time because they are awesome (although I did post a better picture on Instagram).  I had slight qualms about wearing sneakers with jeans because my legs are really short and I always have one of those insecure bouts of "Is this flattering?" but then I suddenly felt a gust of bravery a la the Edith Piaf Chicken and wore them anyway because SO WHAT WHO CARES.
