I also feel strange sharing 30 consecutive days of outfits because, as I'm sure most readers can understand, I have my off days. Some outfits are amazing, some are okay, some are failures, some are super bland running-to-the-grocery-store outfits, and some don't accurately reflect the aesthetic/style I hope to achieve in the long-run.
Case in point: Outfit #6. I literally did not leave the house, except for a brief period during which I did my laundry.
Shirt: Forever 21 / Shorts: Zara / Flats: H&M
Oh yeah. Let the originality wash over you. Personally, I would have felt super dishonest if I had put an outfit together just for the sake of blogging it. If it hadn't been for the laundry, I would have sat in my pajamas all day. Also, the only reason I'm wearing actual shorts for this is because of the Challenge, otherwise, I would have likely just gone in yoga pants.
Also, this picture marks the debut of my glasses and my septum piercing (not in life, just on the blog). I always forget to flip it down for blog pictures, but perhaps it's for the best because unless the picture is a close-up of my face, I just look like I have silver boogers glimmering beneath my nostrils.
The rest of the outfits are better, I swear.
Shirt & Sandals: Forever 21 / Skirt: H&M
I always feel so boss in this skirt and I really should wear it more, as I've only worn it once before. Also, how great are these silver sandals?
Cardigan: Uniqlo / Belt & Flats: H&M / Shirt & Jeans: Forever 21
Even though it has all the indicators of a Val Outfit -- black jeans, striped shirt, and flats -- something about this outfit feels really Not Me. It's probably the fact that I never wear cardigans anymore (this is the only one in my closet) and that I almost never belt anything that isn't a shift dress.
Jacket, Shirt & Jeans: Forever 21 / Sneakers: K-Mart
As you can probably tell by the dim lighting, this was a Rainy Day Outfit. I could not be less impressed by this configuration of pieces. Or by that weird combover-y effect that's going on with my hair.
Jacket: J. Crew / Blouse: Forever 21 / Shorts: Zara / Flats: H&M
Throughout this erratic New York City summer, I haven't been wearing skirts and shorts as much as I expected to, so I decided that Wednesday would be the day. Of course, the first weekday that I decide to wear shorts, the evening is unseasonably cold and I hate myself. Please note that the shirt is not polka dotted, it has a tiny star print, y'all.
Shirt: J. Crew / Jeans: Forever 21 / Heels: Zara
I would say that this counts as pattern-mixing, but everyone knows that leopard print is a neutral, right? At this point in the challenge, I tried really hard to accessorize this with jewelry, but it felt like there was too much on and around my neck, especially since the most I can get out of my hair right now is a low ponytail. Long hair, I'll never take you for granted again.
Shirt & Trousers: Forever 21 / Wedges: Target
Looking back on the outfits I've created over the last twelve days, I realize that I'm using my jeans way more than I intended to (seven times so far) and that I haven't done much with the skirts and dresses I've included as part of my 30 items. I feel like the outfits I've put together look boring and monochromatic because of it.
New twist! For the next seven days, I will not use my jeans at all. Even if it rains. This is a big deal for me, as the first thing I do when I see grey skies is grab a pair of jeans.
Anyway, please feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions! Do you have a favorite pairing so far? Are you disappointed that I kept it real for Outfit #6? ~Do you prefer your fashion blogs to be some weird idyll where there was nary a lackluster outfit?~ Be honest, y'all.
