1) Fisherman pullover and reversible leather belt: American Apparel // Chambray, skirt, boot, bag, sunglasses: Madewell
2) Penfield x Madewell Vassan parka // Dress: ASOS // Necklace: Serum Vs Venom
This parka is perfect for Miami because it consists of one waxcloth layer, and the humidity here can be brutal. I actually wore it the other day on a whim, and while walking to work I was annoyed by how sunny it was outside. As soon as my shift ended, a torrential downpour felt the need to grace South Beach with its presence. I decided to brave the few blocks to my apartment, even though my parka's hoodie was literally the only thing covering my head (fisherman's wife steeze?). When I got home, my parka was soaked. Definitely not mad about the fact that it completely dried within two hours, though. I can get down with low-maintenance pieces that can withstand Miami showers. The funniest thing about this parka is probably all the looks I've gotten while wearing it. I know the color is a bold choice but its utilitarian structure brings it down to earth for me. What are some ~bold~ pieces you've gotten funny looks for wearing?
3) I bought these white low top Chuck Taylors the other day and I can't wait to get down n dirty with them.
4) Canvas totes are one of my essentials, and this is one of my favorites. It was part of a series of poem tote bags by the very charming Dallas Clayton. I handwashed mine for the first time today ever since I bought it (over a year ago), and I love how worn out it looks.
P.S. I was featured in the Fall/Winter 2012-13 issue of my friend Ting Shuen's online art magazine called Freckled! Click here to check out the issue, which features an overwhelming amount of breathtaking nature photos, and work by independent artists and musicians.
Edit: I just want to clarify that I received the interview questions for my segment months before Michelle Williams unfortunately shot that cover for AnOther magazine that many called out as offensive for the use of redface.
