I continued on my traveling kick even after starting my new job. Now, I am trying to limit it to about once a month (not including work travel). I am saving up my money for a week-long trip to Central America in December so I am (almost) exclusively trying to go to Goodwill and second hand stores.
Since I live in a big city the stores are pretty picked over. Whenever I am in a smaller town I make it a point to hit up the thrift stores. Bismark, North Dakota is the second largest city in the state (around 65k people) and has some pretty awesome finds. I don't want to over do it with individual detail photos until I have made outfits, but I just wanted to share my finds.
All of this cost me less than 40 dollars. 4 pairs of shoes, 6 earrings, roller luggage with matching toiletry kit, Polaroid film, 35mm film camera and a down parka.
I am so thrilled with my purchases though I want to take the time out to talk about how TERRIBLE of an experience I have had with the blue shoes.
I am not sure what they are called, but every single time I buy these from a thrift store the back of the heel detaches from the rest of the shoe. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY! I try them on, look at the soles, walk around in them, but they always manage to break. I am not sure if I am just unlucky and should stop buying these old lady shoes. Hopefully, it is a fluke because they are so damn comfortable.
And as a bonus, I am throwing in this awesome koozie I got. I normally never buy my koozies (I used to have a pretty impressive collection), but I make exceptions. I have one in almost every overnight bag, backpack, and purse I own.
Getting back to my real intention of this post, North Dakota. Surprisingly good place to find deals. The state is flushed with cash (but obviously not equally dispersed) so I am not sure how long that will last. I hope to get in one more trip before then.
What is the best city you have gone thrifting?
