
Here she is with my grandma!
It's almost Mother's Day and with that, I thought I'd share a few photos of my mom from when she was about my age (and a little younger). My mom grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Hong Kong (Diamond Hill, represent) and thus couldn't afford clothing that was on trend. So she did what any creative, crafty lady would do: she made her own clothing.

If you gave me a needle and a thread, I could maybe sew you a button.
That's about it. But my mom, hot damn, did she know how to sew. And
pattern. I regret to this day that she doesn't have any of her
mod-inspired clothing anymore. But then again, she was like half my
size. Still, I could have framed them they were so nice.
